Take some time out before you hit burnout.
We often associate burnout with working long hours or pushing ourselves to the edge of exhaustion. But burnout can show up in subtler, quieter ways too.
Like spending hours, days, even years in a job that doesn’t align with who you are, your needs, or your vision for work-life balance. That kind of misalignment takes a toll—mentally, emotionally, and physically. It drains energy just to keep showing up, carrying the mental load, and pushing through. (I did this for a number of years and remember how it feels).
I don’t mean to sound all doom & gloom—but this 👆🏽 is real.
Clients talk about this experience often, and it’s something I’ve been reflecting on personally as well.
This April, I spent 10 days feeling really rough (bed rest rough) followed by a week of half-term break, which took me completely out of routine. Some of that time out was planned, some wasn’t …. but either way, my nervous system needed it and appreciated it.
Supporting clients with their work, life, and wellbeing integration is second nature to me. It’s about helping them find their own version of balance—not the one society expects or applauds.
And lately, I’ve been reminded to apply the same compassion and curiosity to my own life. This time out became an invitation to reshuffle, realign, and rethink how I’m approaching my own work + life + wellbeing.
So as we step into the summer months, I’d love to hear from you:
Where and how are you channeling your energy & actions?
Where might a change of direction, or a reshuffling of priorities better support you and your nervous system?
What signs (big or small) might be telling you it’s time to pause, slow down, or step back?
In what areas of your work or life are you feeling most aligned—and most out of sync?
What would “rest” or “recalibration” look like for you in this season?
If you gave yourself permission to do things differently, what might you change first?
How do you want to feel as you move through the next few months—and what support do you need to make that possible?
I hope these journal prompts bring a little headspace & clarity as you navigate your crossroads x
